CYP In the New Year

CYP Makes Greenwood Beautiful!

Adopt-a-Highway crew for January 23, 2010

Your 2010 board for the Greenwood CYP is dedicated to making this the best year yet! With five returning board members and seven new, we are planning an exciting year of social and networking events, a professional development series, and community activities for local young professionals and students.

In January, CYP held a membership drive with board leadership and members-at-large reaching out to students and the community with information about the group. A new member meet-and-greet at T.W. Boon’s earlier this month welcomed several new members, and was the first time for existing members to catch up in the new year. Over a dozen people joined together to clean up a long stretch of Highway 225 through the Adopt-a-Highway program.

Mark your calendars now for March 5, when CYP’s famous CASINO ROYALE Game Night takes place at the Chamber of Commerce. This event is a blast for all involved, with fast-paced fun, complimentary appetizers from Corley’s Grill, cash bar, and a live auction with chip money at the end of the evening. All benefits go to worthy local cause A Child’s Place.

Other upcoming events include the Run Your Ice Off 5k (Feb 6), a Fat Tuesday celebration at Pascal’s (Feb 16), National Pancake Day at IHOP (Feb 23), Happy Hour networking night at Stokie’s (Mar 16), as well as a professional series focused on entrepreneurship and personal finance.

As part of our 2010 membership drive, individual membership has been reduced to only $35 for the year, with additional special rates for corporate membership and students. To RSVP for any of the above events, become a member of this exciting group at this great rate, or have questions, contact Jeff at the Chamber today: 864-223-8431.

Welcome to Connect YP!

Connect YP in Greenwood, SC is dedicated to fostering a community of young professionals to come together and participate in professional development activities, service to the community, and social networking events.

If you are over 21 years of age and feel young at heart, then listen up. In September 2006 the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce launched a new program called Connect YP (CYP), which targets the young, talented, future workforce of the area. CYP was created to be an inclusive group designed to attract new and retain existing young talent in the region.

So who are these “young professionals?” CYP targets the 21-41 year old population, but is open to any “young thinking” or “young-at-heart” professional. CYP is comprised of entrepreneurs, non-profit workers, bankers, engineers, artists, and just about any profession in the Greenwood community.

The goal of CYP is to “connect. empower. engage.” young professionals by providing professional and leadership development, community and civic involvement, and social opportunities in the area.

Membership benefits include discount admission to ALL CYP events, CYP membership cards which offer discounts to local businesses, CYP exclusive events, free membership directory, t-shirts, discounted massages and movie passes and MUCH more. Beginning March 2009 our membership rates have been discounted to ONLY $35 per person.

To contact CYP, please call us at the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce at 864.223.8431 or email jeff@greenwoodscchamber.org
