Our highlight event for May was Tango in the Tropics, a semi-formal evening of music and dancing upstairs at the beautifully-renovated Greenwood Museum in Uptown Greenwood. Door prizes, good music, themed décor and lots of photos helped make this a great event, one we will consider again for the future. More than 70 people came out to dress up and have fun, and we gained some new members in the process!
Other recent events include Smart Finances for Young Professionals: What You Need to Know, an excellent Professional Development session with Melissa Hull of Countybank, a Saturday roadside pickup for Adopt-a-Highway, and a Bowling Night social event at Expo 300 taking old phone donations to the Sexual Trauma and Counseling Center.
Upcoming events include Roller Skate Night this Thursday, May 21 from 6pm-8pm at the Skateaway USA. This is a social event with all you can skate and all you can eat pizza, for only $5.50 at the door. A personal enrichment session Shag Dancing Lessons is scheduled for May 24, 6pm-8pm at the Federal Building. Price is $5 for members, $10 for non members. An ice cream social night is planned for Monday, June 21 5:30pm-7:30pm at Bruster’s Ice Cream with a percentage of the proceeds being donated to the Faith Home!
